As the new year begins, everyone tends to take stock of their lives and make goals for the future. At GUNNAR, we’re no different. In addition to exercise and reading goals, however, we include our new game playlist for the coming year. Having goals and ambitions in life helps you move forward. Knowing what games will come out in the next 12 months helps you plan your list of games to play and beat in 2020! Below we run down 10 games, of the many being released, we’re most stoked to play in 2020.

  1. League of Legends: Wild Rift

This mobile game marks a new entry into the wildly popular League of Legends Series. For years, League of Legends has been exclusive to PC gamers, but Wild Rift’s addition introduces the franchise to an even larger and diverse audience. No set release date has been put out by developers, but a planned full release by the end of 2020 has been promised. If you’re new to League of Legends, start with Wild Rift. If not, the new game promises to be a fun, skinned down version for on the go.

  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Fans of farming sims such as Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon or social sims like Sims, look no further! The much-anticipated Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes to the Switch in March 2020. Interact with the local animal-townspeople, dig up fossils, collect bugs, go fishing, pay off your debts, the simple game is a great way to relax and meet easy goals. Although new Animal Crossing games were released to handheld devices in 2005, 2008, 2012, New Horizons is the first Animal Crossing game to be released on a console since 2001. In a pattern all too familiar to Animal Crossing fans, Nintendo pushed back the release date several times, but has officially confirmed March release.

  3. Minecraft Dungeons

This adventure game introduces a new kind of game in the Minecraft universe. Minecraft’s widespread popularity promises the game a strong release, despite the move away from classic Minecraft gameplay. With no actual crafting in the game, players cooperatively solve randomly generated puzzles. Set for release April 2020.

  4. Iron Man VR

Already available in other formats, this one of a kind VR experience is coming to Playstation February 28, 2020. Players use two Playstation Move Motion Controllers to fly in the sky in your very own Iron Man suit. Battling enemies, flying around in high-tech arm, and getting to know Tony Stark sounds pretty awesome.

  5. Halo Infinite

Set for release exclusively on the new Xbox Series X, for 2020’s Holiday Season. Not much is known about Halo Infinite, but the game has been in the works for several years. Fans got their first look of the game at E3 way back in 2018. Rumored to have more RPG elements than ever before, Halo Infinite has a lot riding on its shoulders. No footage of gameplay has yet been released.

  6. Gods and Monsters

From the creators of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes the new title “Gods and Monsters”. Lovers of Greek mythology and Zelda should feel very at home in this fantastical open-world game. With gorgeous, artistic animation, the hero can take on the power of Greek gods. Puzzles, dungeons, and adventures await you, heroes! Set for release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on February 25, 2020.

  7. Final Fantasy VII Remake

First rumors of the remake leaked on the web in 2014, and now, 6 years later, the game will finally be released. Known as “Cloud’s game” Final Fantasy VII is one of the finest in the series. The release date has been changed several times, but the Final Fantasy VII is currently set to release on the Playstation 4 April 10, 2020. It will not disappoint.

  8. Last of Us II

Critically acclaimed and much anticipated, Last of Us II will set the tone for a new decade of videogames. Announced four years ago, fans are excited to learn whatever happened to Ellie and Joel. Taking place five years after the events of the first installment of the series, players control a now-19 year old Ellie. With plenty of zombies — er, I mean the fungus infected — to  fight, released video footage has already been criticized for being too violent. No matter, the game will undoubtedly continue to cause players to think about controversial ethical dilemmas. Set for release May 29, 2020.

  9. Doom Eternal

As a slayer of demons, you come to the earth to find it overcome with demonic forces. Players brutally slash through enemies to save the planet. The events in this game are supposed to take place 2 years after the events of the 2016 Doom game. It was nominated for the most wanted game of 2018. Doom Eternal is coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, set for release on March 20, 2020. Nintendo Switch owners will get the game slightly after the March 20th release date.

  10. Cyberpunk 2077

From the creators of Witcher 3 comes Cyberpunk 2077. Unlike many open-world games, Cyberpunk’s action happens in a dystopian metropolis. In the city Night Life, citizens seek after acclaim and high-tech body modification devices. As V, you fight for the ultimate piece of body-modification: one that grants immortality. For Playstation, Xbox, and PC and set for release on September 17, 2020.
