ESPN Officially Embraces eSports

Sports media giant ESPN has officially announced their new eSports division which is dedicated to covering professional competitive video gaming news from around the world. News of the major update quickly spread and has since been covered by Engadget, Gamespot, Kotaku, Wired, and many more. In a press release, ESPN.com’s editor-in-chief, Chad Millman, shared that “Fans will find the same level of quality content and journalism that users of ESPN.com have come to expect, including in-depth looks at the competitive gaming world and on-site reporting from the major tournaments.”

ESPN eSports has already launched a calendar of upcoming events that they plan to cover, and based on the line-up of video games that will be featured, eSports this year can only get bigger and better. From Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to StarCraft II, League of Legends to Halo, Smash Bros. to Call of Duty, eSports fans will certainly have a lot to look forward to.
