8 FSA Eligible Expenses

If you have an FSA, then you probably know that the deadline to spend the money from your 2019 contributions is coming up (March 15). We know how these deadlines can creep up on you. If you happen to have money left over from last year, don't panic. You'll lose it if you don't spend it by March 15th, but never fear! We know it can be difficult to find FSA approved items that you need and want. So, today we've assembled a list of some of the best FSA eligible items you can buy before the deadline.

FSA Eligible Expenses

For most of the items listed below, unless a link is provided otherwise, check out the FSA Store to find what specific items from this list you can purchase with your FSA.

1. Baby and Children Products

Much of what might be available for children and babies might be obvious given the terms of your FSA. However, if you dig a little, you can find a great variety of items specific to children and babies that can be extremely helpful, and unique. For example, baby health monitors (such as Owlett), advanced thermometers, baby nose wipes, and even more. Consider the needs of your children, now, in the past, or in the future. Stock up on what you might need, and enjoy the tax savings!

2. First Aid

Perhaps this one goes without saying, but all first aid kits and items are FSA eligible. Bandages, ointments, sprays, and so on, anything you might need for typical daily injuries and mishaps can be purchased with FSA funds. Maybe buy a first aid kit for your car or for your desk at work.

3. Skincare

Acne care, moisturizers, lip balm, etc. You might not have realized that, while not every product is eligible, skincare items can be fully or partially covered by your FSA. Consider your routine or the routine of a loved one in your family. Look at the products you use, and see if they're eligible, or if they could be replaced by eligible items.

Toothbrushes and toothpaste won't always get covered by FSA. However, flossers, teeth whitening, and special oral care items fall under FSA eligibility.

5. Cold Prevention and Care

Stock up on cold medicine, vapor rub, and other cold remedies. But that's not all, you can even purchase vaporizers, nasal spray, and other advanced care options. If you love to take good care of yourself when you have a cold or have always wanted to try something new when you're down, get it now, and save.

6. Sun Care

Most types of sunscreen and aloe vera for soothing after a burn are FSA eligible. If you live in a sunny climate or like to spend the summer at the beach, then you need to take advantage of this. Stock up on everything you need to enjoy the summer sun to the fullest.
