Digital eyewear leader, GUNNAR Optiks, pitched their innovative eye protection on February 11th on ABC’s Shark Tank
CARLSBAD, Calif. – (February 15, 2018): GUNNAR Optiks successfully presented their one-of-a-kind digital eyewear on ABC Network’s Shark Tank on Sunday, February 11. GUNNAR Co-Founder Joe Croft and his team still had a lot to prove to gain a partnership with one of the world’s leading venture capitalists, Lori Greiner.
For well over a decade, GUNNAR has developed lenses to safeguard people’s vision from the harmful effects of digital eyestrain, pioneering the field of computer eyewear in the digital age. Phones, computers, tablets, and other digital devices expose eyes daily to potentially harmful artificial blue light that wears on your vision and can lead to severe side effects like cataracts, macular degeneration, blurry vision, dry and scratchy eyes, headaches and poor-quality sleep.
In preparation for their big day, the GUNNAR team put their best foot forward and produced a short, original demo video, “When Computers Attack,” showcasing the company’s perfectly engineered protective glasses and the immense benefit they provide. The team waited anxiously as their presentation made it successfully through round after round of cuts.
GUNNAR Co-Founder Joe Croft returned early from Europe in order to make the final pitch. Jet-lagged and reeling from the quick turnaround, Croft was determined to capture the Sharks’ attention and “bring the energy!” “It was a seriously long day of waiting,” he recalls, “But the experience was awesome, and we actually ran into another presenting entrepreneur wearing GUNNARs while working on his laptop to prepare his pitch – what a great advertisement!”
