I ordered these on Amazon because I have prime, and nonetheless, the quality of these are prefect. The hinges are a tad tight so opening and closing them will feel stiff, but that would be expected. For me personally, I wear them everywhere just because most of my days I’m looking at a screen of some sort and these help with the florescent light at my workplace. Perfect fit, looks good, and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments from people as well.

I was using non-rx PPKs while one the computer. and now I’m using Standard RX Vertex. While the PPKs are good to use with a headset they feel flimsy and tend to get dirty from the lens touching my face. The vertex might be a little too thick for using with my headset but they fit really great, the stay in place and the lens never touches my face plus are really lightweight. Money well spent. In the future I might try a premium or progressive lens now that I’m sure I like them.

As someone who has needed glasses but suffers from massive migraines and eye strain, Gunnars are life saver. I have worn a pair of Phantoms for years for gaming and usually have them in my bag for work as well since I am in an office and code/develop as my career.

While I love my Phantoms especially for headset usage, I use ear buds at work and the Amber tint after a long day does get to me on the drive home as my eyes readjust to “reality”. In comes the Vertex. Specifically the Liquet lenses.

First off the frames themselves are nice and sturdy, Even with my big head (literally, I wear an 8 and 1/2 fitted hat) they feel great. Snug but not tight and truly comfortable for the past month I have been using them for over 8 hours a day 5-6 days a week. Quality for a decent price. I paid $100 for my original Phantoms and they are still sturdy and in great shape after 3 hard years, but they do feel flimsy. Not the Vertex. Solid, yet still after a few days you forget you have them.

Now for the real reason for this review. The Liquet lenses. I never liked the Crystalline lenses as they didn’t block enough light out and I felt they did nothing for me personally (YMMV). These Liquets are the perfect tint for an office setting. No Amber color, a quick transition back to “reality” after taking them off, and if I forget to take them off it doesn’t matter as it never has bothered me walking around the office or even driving home the couple of times I forgot I had them on.

I still think the Amber lens if better for gaming or fast motion as it does block out more blue light, but for staring at a computer screen all day typing, coding, or just general low impact work, these are absolutely perfect in my book. I just wish they came with a hard case like my Phantoms or the MW3 pair I picked on clearance at the Best Buy.

Great glasses, tight fit, and really does well with contrast on the computer. My questions are: Are they also UVB/UVA protected and if so what percentage? Are they polarized?

Does the amber lenses offer the same protection as the liquet?

    • Cosmin

Hi Brett, The amber lenses offer a better protection, for more info read here.

This is my first pair of Gunnar optiks. the vertex frames fit perfectly didn’t even need to get them adjusted. I purchase a prescription pair of transitions. I work with computers all day so all day indoors and outside very comfortable. as far as the performance I have experienced much less eye strain and less headaches Thanks Gunnar
